Imaging Committee

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Act as liaison between the IPA and NIA (National Imaging Associates) or other management entity with regard to imaging services
  • Review and provide network feedback regarding recommended Health Net policies which may be adopted for IPA practitioners related to imaging services.
  • Recommend action to be taken on specific issues to other IPA committees as needed
  • Monitor IPA imaging costs and review information relative to utilization of defined imaging services

Imaging Program:
To effectively balance the quality and the costs of imaging services and effective patient care, the Connecticut State Medical Society - IPA (CSMS-IPA) has an agreement with National Imaging Associates (NIA) for the management of imaging services including those requiring prior authorization.  NIA reviews requests for prior authorization of exams based upon and supported by the American College of Radiology.
